Social media globalization, moral panic

Moral panic is a story that creates panic that may have a negative impact on society (Stanley Cohen). These are called folk devils.

This relates to social media because it leads to people posting 'revenge porn' online. and can lead to bullying online.

'Trolling' is a form of constant communication that is negative

A moral panic that has been related to social media is self harm and depression

Pieces of media that may have caused a moral panic

Facebook pushing a political agenda

Snapchat

DOOM (columbine)

Dark night should have been a higher rating

I agree that social media has a great impact on moral panics as it has give a lot of people the ability to fear monger and have an negative impact on people with out having to how their face i.e. the Sahara app or the snap chat

I believe we lost the debate.
